Our theme in the Goddess Office this month is feeling our power. We chose POWER as our focus because it’s August, which is the time of maximum Leo, maximum sun energy.
Our hearts are really the nexus of our power. And Leo rules the heart. So, this is a month to get connected to your heart and ask, “In my work, am I in alignment with my heart?” And, “Is there any way I can become even more aligned with the passion and power of my heart, as I activate my purpose?”
Mercury retrograding this month signals a chance to step back and reflect on how things have been going. It’s a bit of a ‘review’ period, which should give all of us a chance to get in touch with our hearts and see where we’re at.
To come from the heart, and to bring the circumstances of our lives into alignment with our hearts, often requires courage. This is why the goddess we’re spotlighting is the LIONESS. The lioness is the most fearless animal on Earth. And when the lioness takes goddess form, LOOK OUT.
The lioness goddess we’re elevating this month hails from Ancient Egypt and her name is SEKHMET.
Sekhmet is known as “Sekhmet— the Powerful.” In Ancient Egyptian texts, she is also referred to as “The Mistress of Heat,” “The Mistress of Flame” and “Lady of the Original Power.”
Sekhmet evokes deep feminine feline power and the power of the sun. She is a carrier of FIRE.
Within contemporary culture, I feel lion goddess energy really strongly in Jane Fonda and Angela Davis.
How do we bring this lioness energy into the office? Here are 3 ideas:
MAKE A LIST OF 8 THINGS YOU ARE REALLY GREAT AT: The lion goddess energy is not about becoming something more. It’s about FEELING HOW POWERFUL YOU ALREADY ARE. It’s about cultivating that lioness pride. So, make this list of 8 things about yourself that make you powerful in your purpose. Then put this list next to your laptop or on a stickie on your bathroom mirror. Remind yourself of your power all month long.
TAKE SOME LIONESS LEISURE TIME: The lioness is a formidable huntress. When she goes, she goes all out. Most of the time, though, she hangs out in the shade and licks the fur of her cubs. She is not any less powerful because she often ‘lazes’ around. This month, make like the lioness and give yourself some extra leisure time if you POSSIBLY can. Take that summer Friday. Skip an item on your To-Do List and go jump in the ocean, lake, or river. Let the Earth charge you up. Let the Sun charge you up. It’s going to be an intense next couple months in the stars, so REST if you can. And remember, it’s hard to be creative and come up with creative solutions to sticky problems when our energy is depleted. Part of being wildly productive creatively is actually having ample time to do nothing at all.
PROTECT YOUR PASSION: It’s time to get fiercely protective about what you love most in your work. So often, what we feel most passionate about in our mission gets put on the back burner because we need to answer the e-mail that’s demanding a quick response or ‘put out a fire’ rather than stoking our inner fire. I’m not suggesting becoming negligent (not at all!), but this is a time to think about how you can get creative to allow for more of what you love most in your work to be more present in your day-to-day experience.

Have a beautiful month and may you cultivate your inner fire & passion!
